Orwell uses technology, as the most important text are those that critisise the present
The novel 1984 is a important text in the way it critisises our present by fualting the most obvious issues through over exxageration of what is already happeneing. The novel shows us how overpowering tecchnology is through the pressure Winston undergoes to try live his life, “Winston kept his back turned to the telescreen. It was safer; though, as he well knew, even a back can be revealing”. This quote shows us exactly hard it was to take controll of your own privacy.
Points to discuss – Over use of technology and no privacy, forced relationships, government controll.
